Key Stage 4


At GCSE students follow the specification for the Edexcel Examination Board.  They are assessed on all four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking). We learn a variety of topics such as Holidays, Work, Hobbies, Leisure Activities, Personal Life, School, and Future Plans

GCSE French Specification

30% Writing (Controlled Assessments)
30% Speaking (Controlled Assessments)
20% Reading (Exam taken in Summer of Year 11)
20% Listening (Exam taken in the Summer of Year 11)

NVQ Business & Language

If students opt to study the NVQ Business and Language course they will learn how to communicate and express themselves using the foreign language in a business environment, enabling them to deal with issues such as completing order forms, greeting visitors and understanding invoices.

Pupils follow the OCR Specification.  

In Year 10 pupils complete Level 1 (GCSE equivalent D), 

In Year 11 pupils complete Level 2 (GCSE equivalent B)

Pupils are assessed in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening skills at various times throughout the course.
