You will be all aware that Dr Gill Metcalfe is absent from
school following an accident. In her
absence Mr M Tarr & Ms L Ford and the Senior Leadership Team are ensuring
that it is ‘business as usual’ and the governing body thank them and all the
staff for their continuing work to ensure pupils receive the best
education. At a recent
meeting of the Governor’s strategy group it was agreed to formally
appoint Mr Tarr as Acting principal until Dr Metcalfe returns to school.
Governors continue to focus on school
improvement and are focused on
monitoring the progress of the school on the Post-Ofsted action plan which is
already bringing about substantial benefits for students.
pleased to receive news about the students who received the best GCSE results
ever at the Academy and are now working with the Principal, Senior Leadership
team and external advisors to ensure this up-ward trend continues.
Governors have also been given of their time to visit school
and two governors Mrs Cousins and Mrs O’Reilly took an active part in the
tendering and assessment process for the
new catering contracts.
On a recent visit to school I had lunch with some pupils who
were eager to give me their mostly positive comments on the new menus and
quality of the food.
Following the election in February two parent governors Mr S
Crowden and Mr R Davis were appointed and a new community governor Mrs J Bell has also
joined us. All have considerable but
different skills knowledge and experience they have been able to bring
to the role.
However following a very recent resignation we find we once
again have a vacancy and any parent interested in applying are invited to do

school and the education of all the students.

You will be able to offer your
enthusiasm and commitment - and as a parent, you'll understand other parents'
concerns. Governors with business and management experience, or a host of other
skills, can also offer extremely helpful expertise to the school.
